Recruitment Overview
The Border Security Force (BSF) invites applications for Head Constable (Radio Operator – HC(RO)) and Head Constable (Radio Mechanic – HC(RM)) posts. These are Group C non-gazetted positions which play an important role in BSF’s communication system. Applications are open from 24 August 2025 to 23 September 2025 through the official portal.
About the Roles
1. Head Constable (Radio Operator – HC(RO))
- Operating wireless communication equipment in BSF units.
- Sending and receiving messages securely across BSF networks.
- Maintaining records of communication logs.
- Ensuring smooth functioning of tactical communication during operations.
2. Head Constable (Radio Mechanic – HC(RM))
- Repairing and maintaining wireless sets, transceivers, and radio equipment.
- Testing and troubleshooting technical faults in devices.
- Assisting technical teams in installing and upgrading communication systems.
- Providing on-field support to keep BSF’s communication network operational.
In short: HC(RO) focuses on operating the communication systems, while HC(RM) focuses on repairing and maintaining them.

Pay Scale: Level-4 (₹25,500 – ₹81,100) plus allowances such as DA, HRA, Medical, Uniform, LTC, and Pension (NPS).
Eligibility Criteria
- Educational Qualification: 12th pass with PCM (60% aggregate) OR Matric + 2-year ITI in Electronics, Radio, Telecommunication, Computer, or related trades.
- Age Limit: 18–25 years (General), 28 years (OBC), 30 years (SC/ST). Age relaxation applies as per rules.
- Physical Standards: Height, chest, and weight as per BSF norms.
Selection Process
- PST/PET – Physical Standards & Physical Efficiency Test
- CBT – Computer Based Test (Technical & General Awareness)
- Skill Tests – Dictation/Paragraph Reading (for RO only)
- Document Verification
- Medical Examination
Final merit is prepared based on performance in CBT and skill tests.
